You know the drill: your friends coerce you into going to a karaoke bar. You’re hesitant but decide to join them, and realize after one too many drinks that you’re on stage singing Kenny Loggins to a badly encoded midi file. Such dreadful occurrences can be avoided if you’re up for a night of real karaoke. And what might that consist of, you ask? How about a venue where a back-up band is on stage to accompany you on that elusive moment of rock star glory!
For over than 10 years now, the Urockaoke foursome has been throwing down unique nights all over the world, and they’ll once again provide your nightly soundtrack at Lion d’Or on June 18th. Aspiring singers will be able to choo-se from a wide variety of karaoke classics like “Faith” and “Wonderwall” and fully revel in the perks of being in the spotlight, without fear of groupies or of being dropped by their label post-performance.
As you’d imagine, Urockaoke’s musical repertoire extends far beyond tacky Casio beats – they can easily sail between rock, jazz, reggae, bluegrass and other genres. The entertainment also comes in the form of a bilingual MC (a classic Montreal karaoke fixture), and rest assured that monitors are still around for all those cocky wannabe pop stars with pervasive memory blanks.
