Purchasing the latest ‘‘chill out’’ compilation would be a highly effective avenue for getting ripped off. Another sure-fire proposition: the outstanding musical output of British producer/composer/DJ Bonobo, a.k.a. Simon Green. His fourth studio effort offers more of the downtempo master’s layered live instrumentation, deftly woven basslines and intricate sampling. Black Sands finds him dabbling in trip-hop, soul-jazz, even Brazilian rhythms. The LP is predominantly instrumental, with ethereal singer Andreya Triana joining him on three tracks (the beautiful, melancholy ‘‘We Could Forever’’). Her vocals, coupled with Green’s horns, bass and guitar, produce deeply affecting, powerful jams.
