In looking back over Sam Shalabi’s vast discography, it’s hard to find a record better than this one. His first studio foray into large ensembles draws on twenty-five Montreal players and four vocalists who, in a five-piece suite, bring to life a world of Arabic groove and psychedelic pop, orchestral noise, beautiful chaos and experimental tentacles. Simply mind-blowing.
